Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) works with people from all backgrounds and situations to handle conflict, deal with violence and build better relationships.


Carbon Conversations Leeds

Carbon Conversations Groups offer a supportive group experience that helps people halve their personal carbon footprint. They deal with the difficulties of change by connecting to values, emotions and identity. The groups are based on a psychological understanding of how people change. Most participants reduce their CO2 emissions by 1 tonne immediately and make plans for long-term reductions, often halving their carbon footprints.

The Headingley Festival of Ideas is all about creative ideas which may or may not lead to something. The Festival is planned and organised by a group of local volunteers who are now starting to put together a programme for October 2015. Leeds BDS is part of a global movement which calls for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law and Palestinian rights. We are specifically campaigning for Sainsbury's, G4S, Coca Cola and Leeds City Council to adopt BDS.


Leeds No Borders

Leeds No Borders is a grassroots campaign & support group fighting racist immigration controls. We believe that everyone should have the right to freedom of movement and call for an end to deportations and detention. We organise numerous campaigns and demonstrations including monthly protests outside Waterside Home Office reporting centre, monthly socials, film nights, anti-racist reading/discussion group & a letter writing group to people in detention & prison. Also offer signing support project & support individual anti-deportation campaings.

You Forgot the Mince

"You Forgot the Mince" is a piece of new writing that is currently in a research and development phase. The long term aims for the play is that it will tour theatres and also be performed in HMP Leeds followed by eight weeks worth of drama based workshops with the prisoners. The aim of the project is to instigate change within peoples lives and to get people thinking/talking about domestic abuse and its causes to help stop it at its root.
